War Takes, War Gives

This is a documentary following the journey of Anna, a Ukrainian, as she attempts to get her family safely settled in Bristol.

During my first year of college (2023), I decided I wanted to make a documentary with a Ukrainian. I reached out to my grandad who had worked with a few charities supporting Ukrainians and asked him if he could spread the word. That's when Anna came forward, we met in a coffee shop and had a conversation, she was amazingly open to tell her story. I remember being very nervous before the interview, it was my first real documentary, but I just focused on trying to really empathise and connect with Anna and it went better than I could have imagined.
